Dr Hadiyah Nicole-Green killing cancer with lasers

By Precious Joely

Dr. Hadiyah Nicole – Green is the first doctor to cure cancer in mice using laser-activated nanoparticles successfully. Dr. Green is a physicist who specializes in targeted cancer therapeutics, using laser-activated nanoparticles and immunotherapies to develop biomarker-specific platforms to target, image, and treat malignant tumors.

She is also the founder of the Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation, named in memory of her late aunt, who raised her and passed away due to cancer. This loss inspired her to develop a cancer treatment using lasers. She describes her research as "laser-activated nanotechnology," which uses lasers and nanotechnology to completely eliminate cancer in mice after one 10-minute treatment in just 15 days with no observable side effects.

With a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Green has devoted her life's work to change the way cancer is treated and reduce the suffering of cancer patients by providing affordable, accessible, and effective treatment. The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) recently awarded Dr. Green a $1.1 million grant for the ongoing research of her 4-in-1 system for early detection, imaging, targeting, and selective treatment of difficult-to-treat tumors, including head and neck, skin, breast, colorectal, brain, lung, pancreatic, and prostate cancers.

According to WHO, Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020. Around one-third of deaths from cancer are due to tobacco use, high body mass index, alcohol use, low fruit and vegetable intake, and lack of physical activity.

Through Dr. Green's organization, The Ora Lee Foundation, laser treatment could save some of the people who die from cancer. However, the research is on hold due to a lack of funding, and to be able to begin human clinical trials, the organization would need some financial support.
