Education CS Magoha releases KCSE results today

Education CS George Magoha on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 12:30pm released the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education results at Mtihani House, Nairobi.

KNEC data shows that 752,933 candidates were registered in this year’s examination with four girls managing the top 10 national positions. They are:

3. Sharon Chepng’eno 87.173 – Kenya High School

5. Mbugua Esther Washosh, 87.113 – Kenya High School

8. Chepkorir Patience, 87.046 – Kenya High School

10. Musomba Edith, 87.013 – Machakos Girls High School

Kenya High School produced 6 out of the 15 top candidates nationwide. The CS noted an overall improvement in the performance as compared to the previous year registering 893 students who scored a clean A plain.

143,140 students qualified to join university after obtaining the minimum grade of C+ and above. This is compared to 125,747 students in 2019.

The most improved girl schools noted by CS Magoha were Kaaga Girls School in Meru and St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale.

CS Magoha noted that all 747,171 students would be enrolled to higher education, tertiary institutions through KUPPS.

“All students deserve a place in our education system,” Magoha said during the release. TSC CEO Nancy Macharia noted that strict measures had been implemented to curb the cheating cases caught during the examination period.

“We must however be cautious of allegations of some teachers who were framed by the real examination crooks.  We will thoroughly investigate the case where a teacher had a screenshot of the exam on her WhatsApp status,” she said during the release of the KCSE examination.
